Meet Ellen Bristol, Bristol Strategy Group, this year’s Golden Mouse Award Honoree for Nonprofit Marketing
Ellen Bristol, president of Bristol Strategy Group, is an expert in sustainable fundraising for nonprofit organizations of all types. After a 20+ year career selling information technology, she launched her company in 1995, with a mission to improve sales-force productivity, but the market had other plans for her. Nonprofit organizations and their executives quickly learned about her work and demanded she provide the same improvements to their fundraising efforts, a business function that’s notoriously difficult to manage.
The company’s flagship methodology, Fundraising the SMART Way, challenges nonprofit leaders to revolutionize the way they manage their development shops. After collecting data for over two years with the on-line Leaky Bucket Assessment of Effective Fundraising, the data are clear: organizations need to manage their fundraising efforts better. The SMART Way model plugs the “leaks” in fundraising productivity, driving improved results while lowering associated costs.
The Publishing Advisory Council of the Association of Fundraising Professionals gave Ellen a signal honor when her book proposal was the only one selected in 2012 for publication in the AFP Fund Development Series published by John Wiley & Sons, one of the world’s largest publishing firms. The book was released in March 2014.
